This is a view of one of the two stairs of the Mémorial des Martyrs de la Déportation in Paris. Somehow the “fermé/closed” notice sums up what I felt very well.
On the same subject, don’t miss the ‘Pardonne, n’oublie pas’ shot by Massimo; there’s also another great one by Thomas but I can’t find it in his archives.

I like this composition. The rail in the bottom right somehow really emphasizes the trapezoidal shapes throughout the image.

I cannot find it either. I remember Thomas photo captured more or less the same sensation I had when descending the narrow stairs of the memorial, with an old couple in the courtyard, and total silence contrasting with the city noises on the surface.
