Marsannay #3

I came across this device last Saturday during my morning stroll. Someone in the know informed me that it’s one of the first horizontal wine presses. They took the place of traditional vertical presses during the second half of the 20th century as they require less workforce. Of course, according to some, the wine they produce isn’t as good as with vertical presses.

On a totally unrelated subject, there’s now a picture of myself on the About page.

Hmm - does it still work? I’d love to give it a go.
Interesting contraption, I thought it was something slightly more sinister.
Love the self portait pic on the about page ;)

Interesting piece of machinery. I always thought grapes were pressed by stomping around on them barefooted. :p

Wow, I think they still do press wine in old machines like that, at least in small whineries, right???

Nice image of an interesting piece of machinery. And about your photo on your About page, I always thought of you as being a bit older.
