Encounter

Intentionally unspecified

I’m not sure about the upper part of this shot. Sometimes I like how its darkness matches the bright clouds, and sometimes I think the shot might better balanced by removing a fifth of its height at its top. What do you think?

There’s a new page listing my favorite shots previously published on Urban Zebra (it can also be accessed by clicking the “Favorites” link at the top of each page). Be sure to check it out!

I like your new favorites page! I think these pages are a great idea. They force you to hone your own sense of style by picking and choosing, and I always enjoy seeing what people consider their most representative images. As for this photo, I like the grid pattern.

I like it the way it is. It looks like it’s not “finished” at the top, which gives it a tension element that really counts.

Keep it as-is. Since when do us photobloggers worry about balance. Well, maybe sometimes. In this case I like it as it is.

i like it as is, with the height it emphasises the lines of the building. Good work with the reflection too, it’s interesting another blog i visit posted a similar shot today too - http://www.exposingmyself.net/archives/002377.php

Oddly enough (since I almost always suggest cropping) I also like it the way it is). If you cropped out the top it would be more about the trees and clouds, and less about the building, and I like it being about the building.

Looking at the thirds there’s three distinct areas with each having it’s own content, I think if you cropped it you would loose the balance and the flow that is happening. I think it looks good, it draws you up into the sky. Also love the silver/ mercury feel of it.
